Edo Tokyo Museum Visit

On Saturday, June 28 students from the Japanese Culture and Society course visited Edo Tokyo Museum situated in the heart of Tokyo’s sumo district of Ryogoku. This spacious museum with its impressive half-reconstruction of the original Nihonbashi allows visitors the opportunity to learn about Tokyo’s long and colourful history.

After meeting at midday, students divided into groups and walked round the Edo and Tokyo zones completing prepared worksheets designed to help them better understand how everyday life has chanced for the citizens of one of the world’s most vibrant cities.
